Phonological Awareness
Being able to distinguish sounds between letters of written language and combining the sounds to form words (decoding).
Fluency
Ability to read the text accurately and quickly.This is the bridge between word recognition and comprehension.
Vocabulary
Understanding the meaning of words.
Comprehension
Understanding what is being read and the ability to apply this knowledge.
5 to 6 Years Old
-If your child is not writing words that contain most consonant sounds
6 to 7 Years Old
-If your child is unable to read at least 100 common words
Red Flags
If your child:
